About Me

Liz Jennings has taught piano since 1990. She earned a Bachelors degree from the College of St. Benedict in 1990, where she studied piano with Fr. Robert Koopmann at St. John's University. In 1999, she earned a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Psychology-learning and cognition from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis.

Liz is a current member of the American College of Musicians/National Piano Guild and Minnesota Music Teachers Association. In 2010-11 she has served as Exhibits Chairperson for the 2011 MMTA Convention. She continues her musical professional development by attending summer workshops at the MMTA Convention and University of St. Thomas, Piano Pedagogy department; keeping abreast of professional piano teacher journals; and participating in piano teacher web forums.  In 2007 she attended the biannual National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in Chicago.

Over the past seven years,  Liz has devoted her time teaching privately in her home and to her two children. During this time, her interests led her to research the area of piano instruction for preschoolers. Previously she taught piano for two years at Maternity of Mary/St. Andrew School in their after-school program. In her free time, Liz plays keyboard in the local band Necessary Diversion , and plays violin in the Classical Sounds Chamber Trio in Shoreview and in the St. Paul Jewish Community Center Orchestra. Since 2008 she has volunteered as an assistant preschool Sunday School music teacher in her parish.
