Environmental Policy

Environmental policy cuts across almost every major issue area- foreign policy, trade, agriculture, energy, etc. Too often, environmental policy is given short shrift when measured against our policy objectives in these areas. We need to move the issue of protecting our environment back to the front burner, a move that is widely supported by Minnesotans.

For example, we should not threaten our environmental legacy in Alaska by drilling for oil in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (which at best would provide only a marginal increase in energy supplies perhaps a decade away). We should move forward as fast as possible with clean energy alternatives (ethanol, biodiesel, wind, solar, etc.). And we should provide additional incentives for conservation in agriculture.
