Stereo Photography Books

Here is a mix of books and magazines that are discuss stereo photography or display 3D images. Every stereo photographer should have a good reference library, and this is a good place to start.

Thanks, Tom

Stereo Photography Instruction Books

Picture It In Stereo (Kodak Publication No. C-7). A 36 page Kodak Reference Handbook that covers the basics of stereo photography. Good for those new to stereo photography, or unfamiliar with how to operate a manual camera. There is a nice section on taking stereo close-ups, which refers to a jig that you can make. The instructions to make the jig are found in a pamphlet (No. C-19, Stereo Close-Ups), which is next to impossible to find. I will include a photo copy of the pamphlet with this old dealer stock (un-used) book. - $26

Stereo Photography. A larger sized book (7" X 10") by Peter Gowland. 128 pages with many photo illustrations. Peter is known for his glamour photography, and there are several illustrations of hisglamour work in this book. The dust jacket was missing so I made a color laser copy. I am also including copies of the 5 black and white stereo slide chips that were included in the back (they are always missing). This is a harder to find stereo book. - $75 (I have extra sets of the unmounted slides for $25 per set)

Stereo Realist Manual, by Morgan and Lester. 400 pages with many photo illustrations. This is the book on Stereo Realist cameras, viewers, projectors, and mounting equipment.. This is the most popular book that I sell. The paper dust jackets really can take a beating so the one you receive may not look as shown, but the book itself will be nice and clean. Stereo viewer included in pocket in back. - $65

3D Image Books

Stereogram with forward by Howard Rheingold. This is a great soft covered book filled with all types of 3D images and not just stereograms. There are antique and modern stereo cards, Salvidor Dali paintings, stereo repeating patterns, and unintentional 3D. There are excellent descriptions of the different types of 3D illustrations and their histories. This is a must have book for any stereo enthusiast. - $13

3D Images In Magazines

National Geographic March 1984. Eagle hologram on cover. Articles on "The Wonder Of Holography" and "The Laser". - $5

National Geographic November 1985. Homo Habilis skull hologram on cover. - $5

National Geographic December 1988. Full cover hologram, front and back. The front cover shows a crystal globe that shatters as the image is tilted. The back is the first and only McDonalds Restaurant hologram advertisement. - $8

National Geographic August 1998. "Return to Mars" and "Titanic: Tragedy in Three Dimensions" in color anaglyph 3D, two pair of glasses included. - $6
