Day 5 - New Ulm, Minnesota: We rolled into New Ulm, our overnight stop, nice and early, thanks in part to the short route and the Minnesota River Valley (which kept us out of the headwinds for a good part of the day). That left us time for a most sacred pilgrimage To the August Schell Brewery. Founded in 1860, it is the second-oldest family-owned brewery still in operation in the U.S., and is home to many delightful beers, both under the Schells label and others. We took the tour and enjoyed the samples afterwards. |
