Andreasen Files for Congress

July 11, 2002 (Rochester - MN) Minnesota native Steve Andreasen, the DFL candidate for Congress in Minnesota's First Congressional District, filed for election to Congress Thursday. Andreasen, a national security official in the Clinton, Bush Sr., and Reagan Administrations, won the endorsement of his party in April, saying the new First District needs a more independent voice in Congress.

Andreasen has pledged "to move to the front burner issues such as strengthening the economy, improving education, making health care affordable, and protecting the environment." Andreasen also underscored that he has the experience to work in Congress to "defeat terrorism, defend our Constitutional rights and represent Minnesotans on these important issues."

Andreasen lives in Rochester. He is a national security consultant and is writing a book on nuclear weapons, arms control and missile defense policy.
